A new season is here

Hi, and welcome to Team Hardwood/Trek’s new website. We are really excited to let you know about our team and all the amazing things that are happening in 2014 and the coming years. The goal of this new website is to provide a hub of information that all of our families can use for anything they will need to know about our team’s activities, functions, and other important and fun stuff that the team does. Perhaps the biggest piece of recent news that will help not only solidify the amazing things we already do, but to expand and develop for the future, is the recent grant we received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The Ontario Trillium Foundation recognizes the contributions of Team Hardwood/Trek in developing healthy families through the sport of mountain biking and has awarded us a 3 year, $75,800 grant to continue and expand what we do.

Team Hardwood/Trek is one of the largest and longest running mountain bike development programs in Canada. We are also one of the most successful programs. We were exceptionally proud of all of our athletes accomplishments and 2013 was a banner year for Team Hardwood/Trek alumni. At the 2013 Canadian National Mountain Bike Championships held on our “home turf” at Hardwood Ski and Bike, 5 of the Nationals Champions were products of Team Hardwood/Trek! One other truly outstanding performance in 2013 came from recent THT graduate Peter Disera, who raced to a Silver medal at the 2013 Mountain Bike World Championships, yes that’s right Peter came second in the world!

We are really glad that you have decided to join the THT family! We have an amazing group of people that are all here because they love our sport and the benefits it provides to the family. It is truly awesome to to watch athletes and families grow together in such an amazing environment! There are a ton of cool things always going on and this is an exciting time to be a part of the THT gang. I hope you will jump right in and get involved and truly make this a family experience that you will never forget.

Joyride Day February 8

Team Hardwood/Trek will be holding our first Joyride 150 day of the 2014 season on Saturday February 8th. We will meet at 10 am at Joyride and have a fun morning/afternoon of riding, skill development and likely some cool jumps into the foam pit. There may even be a couple of “guest riders” to join us for the day. Team Hardwood/Trek recognizes the amazing environment Joyride 150 provides to all cycling athletes for training and we are pleased to enter into a partnership with them as strong advocates for athlete development and a lot of FUN! So mark this date on your calendar and join us for some fun. Athletes and families are welcome and if you have a friend that wants to find out about Team Hardwood/Trek, bring them as well. There will be more details to follow and I will be asking anyone who wants to attend to confirm with me so I can provide Joyride with a list.
